| When ASKI talks about service and transformation- the organization really means it. It was one of the early adopters of microfinance as a way out of poverty. Unlike most early adopters though, it was not content with traditional microfinance that specialized in offering micro loans and micro savings to the needy. Leading the needy to progress goes beyond providing access to funds. |

| Early on, ASKI already is a firm believer of holistic transformation, which entails the advocacy to balanced growth that pursues development of economic, social and spiritual aspects. For 22 years, ASKI chose the road less traveled. As a pioneer, it meant working harder, taking more sacrifices, confronting the unknown. It may entail crossing rivers to reach a distant community. It could involve longer hours spent with the community to learn together and make things happen. But when the journey ends, there is much tears and laughter, warm handshake, sincere smile of thanks from people you have helped to become strong, optimistic and confident- local leaders eager to make the most of life’s opportunities. |
