| From the province of Sta. Maria, Isabela, where pottery is the top selling business, located is the Quinagabian Center, a group of women engage in pottery making. Consisting of 14 members, the group started in ASKI on 2006 and availed their first loan amounting P3, 000.00 as a starting capital. The members’ creativity and passion on pot making abled them to produce various products such as liso, pugon, banga, charcoal and paso which they use to sell in different regions. “We travel in Manila, Visayas and in other parts of Mindoro and Calayan to sell our products and introduce it into different business centers” shares Cristina Morales, Center Chief, Quinagabian Center.
The group faces their own battle whenever typhoon strikes. “Whenever there is an upcoming typhoon, we ready ourselves to take extra care for our products. It causes total damage not only on our pottery business but our crops and other sources of income as well” says Carmencita Repalda, Quinagabian Center Treasurer”. Regardless of the business situation, the group perseveres to make effort to prove that through unity, everything can possibly happen. “Our group has a strong relationship, and each one of us has proven it already. No one, nothing can destroy it. As long as we are working as one, as a group, we will help anyone who is in need” stresses Cristina.
Quinagabian Center group plans to further improve and expand the business through the help of ASKI which will be providing supplementary capital for them.
The group is on their way to progress as they continuously market their products all over the Philippines. “In time, we will be able to show the world that these products of ours are one of the well-crafted pots here in Luzon which will give pride inside and out of the Philippines” Crisitna ended.
