From bread to peanut butter, from soy sauce and vinegar making to a grocery store, Feliciano Bringera brought a new meaning to the term "Jack of all Trades". But contrary to this cliche, Fely, as he is fondly called by fiends, masters the safe keeping and welfare of his family
Mang Fely and his wife, Zenaida, got married early, leaving them no choice but to finish their education at the prodding of their parents.
Being a young couple, they tried to balance academics and family affairs. Tending to a growing family with material needs, the couple needs a stable source of revenue to augment their income.
In spite of the pressure of school, the young couple struggled to make ends meet. Mang Fely, wanting to provide well for his family, ventured into condiments making. He acquired his expertise thru friends and colleagues. His first entrepreneurial undertaking was selling vinegar, soy souce and fish sauce under the trademark Felby's
The business grew prominently in the area. Orders were pouring in. Demands for Felby's sauces were already coming from nearby towns. Just as they thought everything was falling into place, natural catastrophe hit them. Flood waters submerged their workplace and damaged most of their products and machines. Despite the painful natural event, they stood up and started to rebuild their business from whatever was left of them.
They engaged in market enterprise, selling grated coconuts and the likes. With minimal skills and technology know-how, Mang Fely braved all the obstacles and never gave up. With the eagerness to further expand and develop their family business, Mang Fely took the first step to become an ASKIan. Mang Fely is one of the pioneering clients of ASKI.
For almost 19 years, he had been growing financially alongside with the institution. From his initial loan, he bought enough materials and iingredients in making vinegar and soy sauce. Showing his eagerness and enthusiasm to grow the business, ASKI increased his loan availment from P5,000 to P100,000.
Multi-tasking between helping in their market stall and retailing his sauces, he continued to gain admiration in the condiments industry. Today, earning the fruits of their hard work, mang Fely and his wife have decided to buy the stall they are renting in the market. The couple also managed to maintain their house and send their children to school.
With a steady income of P31,000 per month, Mang Fely continues to find new ways to improve their livelihood. Additional machineries were acquired to meet the increasing demand of condiments. With some seasonal crops available, he makes home-made peanut butter and retails them to their friends, neighbors and comrades.
They have ventured into food processing and packaging solutions by wholesaling and retailing juices in tetra-packs.
But like any other struggling business, Felby's has also experienced a slump. Mang Fely and Aling Zenaida expereinced being a victim of a scam. The incident affected them financially, but it brought the whole family closer together. An optimist to a fault, the Bringera family braved the storm and once again they collectively fought pessimism and negativity. Mang Fely recently purchased an additional lot for expansion purposes. He is planning to put up together a sari-sari store-selling anything under the sun. His daugther will also managed their school supplies store in the same area. In addition to their four market stalls and resedential/commercial lots which they recently purchased, they are planning to put up a mini-bakery. All these projects are intended to give extra income to the out-of-school youths in their community. Like food without flavor, the family is looking for what is missing in their lives. Until, they had learned that ASKI does not only nurture the material sustenance of their lives-but also their spiritual needs. The Bringera family has been introduced to the Parish renewal Expereince (PREX) and Family Life Apostolate (FAMILIA).
Thru ASKI, the Bringeras have realized that all the blessings they receive are empty unless they share it to those who are less fortunate. The Bringera family is pursuing a life-changing event to serve God and be a model family to their community.
