"An empowered society effective in facilitating and implementing community driven development" - The Community Development Department's Vision
In its desire to reach the poorest among the poor int he communities, ASKI started its ComDev Program in 2003 with only a staff of six headed by Ms. Babylyn Dela Cruz, a licensed Social Worker.
Aligned to the mission of ASKI, ComDev mission is also to promote socio-economic and spiritual welfare of communities by enhancing the people's skills and untapped potentials so that they can harness their hidden talents and be responsible and productive stakeholders of their respective communities.
Realization of this mission is probable through the use of a two-tiered organizing approach of ComDev: (1) The Minimum Basic Needs Organizing and Issue-based organizing.
At present, ComDev already have 8 staff composed of Jake Oliver Nicolas, Lyn Joy Juan, Elleonor Alindayo, Rosalyn Aquino, Benjamin Flores Jr., Janeth Hernandez, Emilan Tipay and Diosa Rhea F. Lucenesio - armed only with the purpose to help poor communites, collectively facilitated the implementation of the Community Integrated Development Program (CIDP) which covers four projects: Empowering Informal Workforce through Community Organization (EICO), Livelihood Development Program for Poor Farmers (LDP), Capacity Building Foundation for Sustainable Community Driven Development (CAPBUILD) and Credit Assistance to Farmers for Sustainable Agriculture (CAFSA).
The first three is operating within Nueva Ecija while the last one - CAFSA - is in Isabela. The program components are community organizations, capacity building and community-owned projects.
Integrated in the said projects is the provision of financial support through a special program called ComDev Credit Assistance Program (CCAP).
As of June 15, 2007, CCAP already has a total of 394 clients with a loan portfolio of P6,415,672.00. The CCAP program is designed to support the members of people's organizations which consist mostly of farmers. |
